Random thought on using Google Drive in enterprise environment
Previously I tweeted about https://twitter.com/130s/status/889984755202117634 Google Suite (paid version) and got a question offline about my experience. So I though I'd respond publicly (w/o revealing the name of inquirer :)).
We ended up transferring the ownership of all files to another person (he'd be the last one to leave the team, so in our case it works).
Hm, looks like it.
There might be a catch though; if the ownership of the files is you, then the app still syncs. I don't know for sure but that's what I'm seeing. Either way, far from ideal :/
Didn't know about TeamDrive at all.
Having said above, what I would do if the situation allows is that 0) choose a person in your corporate and put everything into her/his account. 1) for online editing, use G-Drive web i/f 2) for local sync/backup, that same person use G-Drive app. Then if sharing the files locally synced is needed, use yet another sync tool e.g. Dropbox.
I'm not saying this is the setting we did at my previous job. However, syncing every local file of G-Drive on Dropbox worked out fine for my personal use.
You use GSuite right? Are you using to collaborate with a team?Yes, for my previous job.
If yes I'd like to ask how do you guys do file sharing with the team.?
From what I have seen so far there are two options:That was the case with me. Drive was on my account, but I just left.
a) Someone creates a team folder in his/her MyDrive and then shares this with the team. The downside of this approach is that it is bound to that someone and if that someone leaves also a team folder management is gone.

In addition Gdrive desktop app does not sync files locally that someone has shared with you.

Lastly it seems that the whole GSuite does not really integrate well into Apple ecosystem (email client, calendar, etc.) as there are always hiccups. No experience here.
