Online Donation (stemming from Turkey Earthquake)
After google searching 10 or 15 minutes, I've seen only a few web sites that call for relief fund for Turky Earthquake. Here are some web sites that have opened a special account, and also the ones that I THINK are trust-able:
D-1 British Redcross
D-2 Turkish Red Crescent Society (in Turkish)
D-3 The American Turkish Society Earthquake Fund
# I spent a few minutes to make sure D-3 is validate since the domain of URL of the donation page (www.z2systems.com) is different from the one that is used for other pages in the same web site (americanturkishsociety.org). whois also returns different site admin info. But I still think it's trust-able since the skeptical page is linked from the original domain.
Although this is not at all the collective list, but I felt the donation activity has not really started...In the web site at Turkish Embassy in Japan, they only announces that they've placed a donation box (physically) at their office as of today. Obviously the priority for Turkish authorities is rescue and figuring out the correct information. It all depends on the priority (and manpower). So what I guessed was at the time like now, foreign organizations might have their own roles. But CNN, Newyorktimes, ABS, it seems none of them has started opening up the special activity. Same as major newspapers in Japan (Nikkei, Asahi, Mainichi). It could be because they need a request FROM certain agency IN the country that needs assistance, as I saw somewhere. Anyway, I just feel sorry for the people who had/are still in hard times there.
