Synergy client (synergyc) auto-start on Ubuntu failed

Following this page ended up not only failing to set up auto-start, but also triggering sound device not to appear (which does...not make sense. I don't know the correlation between these two phenomenon, but those are what happened). Here I leave a memo for when I resume trying in the future.
Autostart Synergy before logging in (GDM)

Note: Autostarting Synergy before logging in requires that your network connection be available at all times and not just after you log in. This is accomplished by enabling the network connection for all users. To do this, choose System->Preference->Network Connections. Choose the network name and select Edit. Select "Available to all users", and then click "Apply". This connection will now be available at all times, including at the GDM login screen.
On my machine, wireless netwokrk cut off after I set this so I had to connect manually by selecting the wireless network on the top panel on desktop. Just by clicking it connected.
As I mentioned earlier, I took back to the original state. Removing /etc/gdm/PostLogin/Default.sample might have been necessary since when I kept that file, sound device didn't show up.
