Remote Desktop to Ubuntu Linux from Mac

Setting on Linux side: Follow http://www.makeuseof.com/tag/ubuntu-remote-desktop-builtin-vnc-compatible-dead-easy/
Tip: This page gives pretty much all necessary setting info, but I would add that you uncheck "You must confirm each access to this machine" unless you specifically need it. Checking this will show a window that asks linux user for connection approval per every single activity from remote machine.

On Mac side: Looks like OSX 10.6.7 already has a built-in VNC client (nice!). On Finder, "Go" -> "Connect Server" will show you a window with one line text field. Type in the following there.
vnc://$IP Address of the target machine$

Enthronement: Mac OSX 10.6.7, Ubuntu 10.04

I heard the step on Ubuntu above comes from Gnome Desktop, not limited to Ubuntu, but I haven't had chances to verify that.
