Systems Engineering -> Astronaut (Mr. Michael Fossum)

By accident I found an astronaut who used to work as an systems engineer. As far as I've understood, the job of the astronauts are more focused on operation of infrastructure systems such as Space shuttle, construction devices and the International Space Station, which require a lot of manipulation by hands. Whereas the job of systems engineers are mainly planning, designing and evaluation, which are more brain-intensive work (I NEVER mean the work of astronauts don't require brain work, needless to say). Other than working as a systems engineer, another job of Mr. Fossum, the first Texas A&M alumnus to have gone to the outer space, was (and probably more effective to the astronaut's career) test pilot in the Air Force. Nevertheless, his career is still interesting enough to me.
